Generation Z (born between 1997 and 2012) is one of the most mischievous generations with full potential. Gen Z is growing up in a reality where technology is not just a tool, but rather an indispensable part of their lives. From smartphones to social media, Gen Z's relationship with technology is scarily fascinating.
Technology is not just a means of communication for Gen Z, it's a way of life. Platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok have become like a second skin to them, embedded in each breath. There is no connection on earth other than the connection of Gen Z and the digital world. To them, it’s a self-expression platform, a place where they feel liberated. They socialize and live vicariously in it, giving them a sense of belonging. But what do they really gain from their tech-literate lifestyle?
Gen Z aggressively uses technology in both good and bad ways, and yes, it will either make or mar them. Mental health concerns, cyberbullying, and online harassment are real issues that Gen Z faces with every passing minute. Always on their way seeking therapy, a safe and healthy digital environment should be ensured.
Creating content is one of the talents you will come across now on social media. Technology is making Gen Z lazy free humans; at least they believe it gives them autonomy over their lives. It’s changing the way Gen Z learns and works through various online education platforms, virtual internships, and work opportunities. Raising awareness about social and environmental issues, social media campaigns, online petitions, and digital activism empower them to make a difference, thereby exploring their passion.
In today's digital job market, Gen Z can leverage technology to launch their careers, build personal brands, and even start their own businesses. Online platforms offer opportunities for freelancing, networking, and professional growth.
Perhaps Gen Z’s relationship with technology can be tagged as that of Iron Man and Captain America—complex and multifaceted. While there are challenges that need to be addressed, their proficiency in technology and creativity is the key to unlocking their potential for transformation and breakthroughs. By embracing the benefits of technology, they can tap into its power to shape their future.
